Are we losing human connection?

Technology has undeniably reshaped our world. But despite it's improvements, it feels very much at the cost of reshaping the fundamentals of what it means to be human. To connect, to notice, to think, to process. Somewhere along the lines of convenience has started to cost us something irreplaceable.

Face perception plays a crucial role in social connection and emotional communication, but as more people spend time looking down at their phones, we risk missing vital facial cues, disrupting brain processes essential for empathy, trust, and human connection.

Old or young, this isn't about rejecting technology, it is about forming a new relationship with it. We must support individuals to learn how to re-connect with life beyond the screen. Learn how to slow down, re-learn that it's okay to not always feel the need to be connected online, to be stimulated or entertained. To find joy in looking up and noticing new things, regain other interests, hobbies or each other. To simply just be in the present moment, offering someone a smile and connecting face to face again.
